Terms of Service

By creating an account or using GradeLikeMe, you agree to these Terms and to the Privacy Policy and Student Data & Responsible AI Notice. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

Account holders must be 18 years of age or older. You may not create an account on behalf of a minor. If you use GradeLikeMe in connection with your employment, you confirm you are permitted to do so.

Provide accurate registration information, keep your credentials confidential, and do not share your account. You are responsible for activity under your account. Tell us promptly at hello@gradelikeme.com if you suspect unauthorized access.

GradeLikeMe is a faculty-support tool. You supply an assignment, a rubric, your grading preferences, and de-identified work. It returns a draft synopsis, rubric-aligned comments, and suggested feedback that you edit and approve. It is not a gradebook of record, not an autonomous grader, and not a decision-making system.

• Use the service only for lawful educational purposes you are authorized to perform.
• Do not attempt to breach, probe, or overload the service or its providers.
• Do not reverse engineer, scrape, resell, or sublicense the service.
• Do not upload malware or content you have no right to submit.
• Do not use the service to harass, discriminate against, or unlawfully profile any person.
• Do not present AI output as an independent evaluation or as a final institutional decision.

You are responsible for confirming that you have the authority to submit every piece of content you provide, and for complying with your institution's policies and any applicable law or agreement covering student records.

Remove, at minimum:

• Student name or initials when they could identify the student
• Student ID number
• Email address
• Phone number
• Home address
• Social-media account
• Personal-profile link
• Government identifier
• Medical or disability information
• Financial information
• Names of family members
• Embedded file metadata where applicable
• Any unusual personal detail that could reasonably identify the student

You keep ownership of the assignments, rubrics, grading directions, and other content you upload. You grant GradeLikeMe and its service providers a limited, non-exclusive license to host, transmit, and process that content solely as needed to provide, secure, maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the service, subject to the Privacy Policy. This license ends when the content is deleted, except for copies retained in routine backups or as required by law.

GradeLikeMe's software, interface, design, branding, logo, prompts, and original written materials belong to the operator and are protected by intellectual-property law. Nothing here transfers those rights to you.

If you believe material on GradeLikeMe infringes your copyright, send a notice to hello@gradelikeme.com identifying the work, the material at issue, your contact information, and a statement of good-faith belief. We will review and respond, and may remove material or suspend accounts.

Plan details, billing frequency, automatic renewal, cancellation, and taxes are described in the Subscription, Cancellation & Refund Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

Plans and prices. Individual Monthly is $19.99 per month. Individual Annual is $199 per year. Prices are in U.S. dollars and are shown exclusive of tax; applicable tax is calculated at checkout. Institutional plans are quoted separately.

Automatic renewal. Paid subscriptions are recurring. Each subscription renews automatically at the end of its billing period — monthly or annually, depending on the plan you chose — at the then-current price for that plan, until you cancel. Renewal terms, the price, and the cancellation method are shown at checkout before payment, and we do not use preselected consent checkboxes or misleading buttons.

Cancellation and paid-through access. You can cancel at any time from the "Manage billing" control in your account area, at paddle.net, or by writing to hello@gradelikeme.com. Cancellation stops future renewals. Your paid access continues through the end of the period you already paid for, and ends at that time; after that your account returns to the free experience if free submissions remain. Cancelling does not delete your account or your saved setups.

Refunds. We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee on paid subscription charges, as described in the Subscription, Cancellation & Refund Policy. Refunds are handled by our payment provider.

Merchant of Record. Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. Payment, billing, tax, invoicing, cancellation, and refund mechanics are also governed by Paddle.com's Buyer Terms. Full payment-card details are entered with Paddle.com and are not received or stored by GradeLikeMe.

The free experience includes 40 student submission reviews in total (lifetime). We count one review per new submission that produces a draft; regeneration, Quick Nudges, In-Document Feedback, Teach GradeLikeMe, rubric importing, and editing never consume an additional review, and a failed generation consumes none. Paid Individual plans are licensed for one instructor's own grading. They are subject to fair use: automated, bulk-resale, or shared-account use is not permitted, and we may contact you or temporarily pause AI drafting on an account showing that pattern. Any such pause is temporary and reviewable. Non-payment, fraud or security risk, and material or repeated breach of these Terms may result in suspension or termination of access.

GradeLikeMe depends on third-party hosting, authentication, and AI providers listed in the Privacy Policy. Their availability and behavior are outside our control, and their own terms may apply to their services.

We may add, change, or remove features, and the service may be unavailable for maintenance or reasons beyond our control. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability.

You may stop using GradeLikeMe and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms, if required by law, or if continued operation would create a security or legal risk. Sections that should reasonably survive termination do so.

Output is generated by an automated system and may be inaccurate, incomplete, inconsistent between papers, biased, or unsuitable for a particular educational decision. We make no guarantee of accuracy, completeness, grading consistency, uptime, or fitness for a particular purpose. The service is provided "as is" and "as available" to the maximum extent permitted by law.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or reputational harm. Total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for the service in the twelve months before the claim or one hundred U.S. dollars. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, in which case they apply only as far as permitted.

You agree to indemnify the operator against third-party claims arising from your unlawful use of the service, your submission of content you were not authorized to submit, or your violation of these Terms. This does not cover claims caused by the operator's own negligence or misconduct, and we will cooperate reasonably in the defense of any claim.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. The parties intend that disputes be brought in the state or federal courts located in Fresno County, California.

Before filing a lawsuit, contact hello@gradelikeme.com with a description of the dispute and the relief you seek. Both sides agree to attempt a good-faith resolution for 30 days before starting litigation.

We may update these Terms. We will change the "Last updated" date and, for material changes, notify you in the application. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms.

If a provision is unenforceable, the rest remains in force. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, Student Data & Responsible AI Notice, and Subscription policy, are the entire agreement between you and the operator about the service.
